This thrift store advertised having 2 vintage Sony Betamax VCRs which they were trying to sell for over $100 each. I asked if they were tested working and they said "no" and I explained that only working units are worth anywhere near their asking price. I asked them to please test them and let me know if either was defective because I buy and refurbish these decks as a hobby and would gladly pay $20 for a defective deck (standard eBay value). I contacted them a short time later and was informed that they had tested the decks, found that one was defective and that they had thrown it in the trash. This is despicable. They would rather send 16 pounds of scrap metal and plastic to a landfill than sell it to me for $20? Wasteful and absurd. Second Hand Thrift cares more about trying to rip people off than reusing, recycling and finding good homes for things. And they lost the opportunity to make $20 on something they threw away!! ABSURD.
